The Stewards Fund of Raleigh, a local philanthropic group, has agreed to make an

extraordinary, limited-time offer in support of our Center for Hope Capital Campaign. It comes in the form of a $400,000 Matching Challenge.


Their intention is to inspire friends like you to invest generously in the

effort, by combining every dollar you send with one from the Matching

Challenge — doubling the value and impact of your gift, and giving us a

full $800,000 in funding.
 

Now, here’s the catch: We must raise the entire $400,000 or we forfeit the entire amount from the Stewards Fund.

The pig-pick-n will start at 6pm, and there will be a devotional after the meal.

 

We have the bowling ally reserved just for Zion after hours, and I think that will be a lot of fun. Please invite folks to join us! We will be leaving the church around 11pm to head to the bowling ally. The cost will be $10.00 per person.

 

We have decided to have an age limit for the kids staying for the lock-in, and going bowling. Kids 10 and up can stay on their own, under 10 need to have a parent or chaperon stay all night with them.

 

Feel free to bring a pillow, sleeping bag, change of clothes, flash light, tooth brush, Wii games, or other board games. Dress comfortably, but we are asking you don't wear really short shorts, or really skimpy (girls) tank tops or wife beaters (guys).

 

We will have breakfast Sat. morning, and then the lock-in will end at 7am.

Hazel Cooper Holt
(September 15, 1926 - November 30, 2010)

Mrs. Hazel Cooper Holt, 84, of Sanford, N.C., died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Holt was born on Sept. 15, 1926, in Moore County, N.C. to the late Dillard Cooper and Mervyan China Marion Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shellie Ray Holt; brothers, Ed & Swanson Cooper and sister, Janet Hart. Mrs. Holt was a member of Zion Christian Church and taught Sunday School for over 25 years. She was retired from W. Koury Company of Sanford after 41 years of service.

She is survived by a sister, Shirley C. Morrison and husband, Leon of Sanford, N.C and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, from 6-8 PM and at other times at the homes of Ruth Morrison, sister-in-law, on 450 Womble Road and Shirley & Leon’s home at 1205 Red Oak Drive. The funeral will be Thursday, December 2, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Zion Christian Church with Rev. Steve Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

SANFORD — Bobby Gene McDuffie, 72, of 397 Buchanan Farm Road, died Thursday (10/7/10) at his home.

He was born Sept. 15, 1938 in Wake County, son of the late Walter Bobbit and Edith Bullard McDuffie. He retired from Carolina Power and Light after 33 years of service. He was a member of Zion Christian Church where he served as Sunday school teacher for the Calvary class for 39 years. He was a Deacon in the church.

He is survived by his wife, Ada Frances Brown McDuffie of the home; a sister, JoAnn McDuffie Massey of Greensboro; and a brother, David Lee McDuffie of Sanford.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Christian Church with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home of Moncure.
